Canaan Valley Farm

Canaan Valley Farm is nestled in the Glory Gate Hollow (formally known as Ivy Hollow) in the Big East Fork Valley. We are Ryan and Chané Null. We believe we were called to the this valley overflowing with milk and honey to live out our dream.

With Ryan’s passion for pasture raised meat and Chané’s passion for natural protein fibers like sheeps wool and mohair, we naturally started a “meat and fiber” farm. Our passion for farming stems from our desire for quality meat and fiber. Our vision is to raising healthy animals in a sustainable fashion by utilizing rotational grazing practices to promote soil regeneration and healthy, carbon capturing pasture grasses and legumes. We believe we are placed here to be stewards of the land during our lifetime and strive to live that out through our farm.

With our vision in mind, we currently have four registered Dexter cows and are working on growing the herd. These Dexters are great for pasture raised beef and A2A2 milk. We have our three Idaho Pasture pigs in a mobile pig tractor, they are growing fast and will make great pasture raise pork. Our meat birds are Freedom Ranger chickens pasture raised in mobile chicken tractors. We have just added some layer chicks to the farm and are looking forward to having nutritious free range eggs.

Adding bees just seemed a natural thing to do as we both love honey and all the beneficial byproducts keeping bees produce. We have three thriving colonies and are nurturing them until they are established enough for their first harvest of honey.

On the fiber side of things, our three registered Colored Angora Goats and American Border Leicester long wool sheep are the sweetest animals who love scratches and grazing. The goats produce a beautiful silky hairlike lock while the sheep produce a soft woolen fleece. Both the goats and sheep are sheared twice a year and Chané will process the fiber into yarn right here on the farm.

Having just started building our farmstead, we will continue to add and grow. As part of the Big East Fork Farms Agrihood, we welcome agri-tourists to our farm for personal or group tours.
